I’ve been sticking up for Derby all my adult life.
Derby is where I was born and grew up. It’s where, against my Dad’s wishes, I joined the building trade, becoming an apprentice bricklayer. After leaving the trade I got a job as a social worker, later becoming a Councillor and then head of Derby City Council on two occasions.
Never in a million years did I think I would become a Member of Parliament when I first joined Labour. I was elected in 2010, then I lost my seat in 2015 by just 31 votes. With a transformed Labour Party we won Derby North again in June 2017.
My door is open, so feel free to get in touch.
